Five Petal Hosting has recently become a Green E-certified business through the 3phases Energy Program. This means that for every kilowatt of energy used to maintain Five Petal's website hosting services, an equivilent amount of green certificates are purchased monthly. Green certificates directly fund the development of new wind and solar farms, advancing renewable technologies and decreasing reliance on conventional energy sources such as oil, gas, coal and nuclear.

Environmentally-Friendly Printing Options

One of the largest ways that the design and photography industries contribute to environmental pollution is through the manufacture and use of processing/printing chemicals and paper waste. However, these pollutants can be greatly reduced through the use of recycled or tree-free papers and soy-based inks in the printing process. While not all budgets or projects will allow for the sole use of environmentally friendly materials, I have found that clients like to have the option and many times will find the "greener" options comparable in price and quality and preferable for thier projects.

1% of Resources Donated to Non-Profit Causes

By working in the area of community organizing and nonprofit management, you learn that the most innovative and effective projects are sometimes not the most well-funded. To help remedy this, Five Petal pledges to donate 1% of annual resources to deserving nonprofit organizations or campaigns currently working in the areas of human rights, social justice, environmental sustainibility or electoral reform. These donations can take the form of services, consultation or materials and are provided to the project free of charge.
